The Surgery is open Monday from  8.00am to 7.30pm. 
Tuesday - Thursday 8.00am
to 6.30pm
 Friday 7.30am to 6.30pm
Saturday 9.00am - 10.30 am (for pre-booked appointments only)

HOW TO SEE THE DOCTOR  - Our system runs by appointment only.  Ring  01730 267722. 

Whenever possible, we try to accommodate patients' wishes when booking appointments. If your case is clinically urgent, we will always fit you in, but please be realistic about this. We offer commuter appointments  between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm on Mondays (Dr Bannell and Nurse), and between 7.30 am and 8.20 am Fridays (Dr Douglas and Nurse) and between 9.00 am - 10.00 am on Saturdays (pre-booked with GP only, on a rota basis).

NEW PATIENTS - are requested to make an appointment with one of the practice nurses or their usual doctor soon after registering. The receptionists deal with registering new patients. You will need to bring your NHS card or fill out a form at the surgery.  The receptionist will help you to choose your 'usual' doctor.  You may choose to see one of the other doctors in the practice although we do encourage you to see your usual GP whenever possible in order to maintain continuity of care.

New patients are requested to make an appointment with one of the practice nurses or their usual doctor soon after registering.  Please bring a specimen of your urine to that appointment.

EMERGENCIES - and out of hours calls - at all times ring    01730 267722   either our receptionist will help you or a recorded message will tell you the arrangements for out of hours cover.  We use the local out of hours service which is commissioned by the Hampshire Primary Care Trust  and the recorded message will tell you how to contact this service. Please note that all telephone calls to the out of hours service are recorded. You may be asked to attend the out of hours centre at The Chase Hospital at Bordon.

We care for patients in Petersfield and the surrounding villages and countryside.  A map is available at the surgery or on this website.

HOME VISITS -Whenever possible you are asked to attend the surgery. However if your condition genuinely necessitates a home visit, please try to ring before 11.00 am. It is helpful if you can give our receptionist brief details about your illness so that the most urgent calls may receive priority.

TELEPHONE ADVICE - If you wish to speak to your doctor by phone, please leave a message with the receptionist. If you wish to obtain test results or discuss any other matter with our receptionists the lines are much less busy during the afternoon.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS - If you have been prescribed drugs for repeat use, you will receive a tear-off counterfoil with each prescription listing the prescribed items. To request any of these items, please indicate them on the counterfoil please indicate by ticking the box alongside on the counterfoil and return it to the Surgery, allowing 48 hours before collection. The three local pharmacies collect from the surgery each day.  Ask our receptionists for advice about this service and allow 72 hrs turnaround.

We will not normally accept telephone requests which can lead to confusion and mistakes. We are happy to deal with written or faxed requests, or they may be e-mailed via our website.

COMPUTERISED INFORMATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY - Information on our patients is held on computer in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act.  Anonymised patient data may be used for audit purposes. We will only share information about you with other healthcare professionals who need to know in order to help you.  To protect your confidentiality we will not normally disclose on the telephone any medical details unless we are sure we are talking to you, or have your consent to speak to a third party.  All our practice staff are bound by the confidentiality policy on display in our waiting room.  The doctors and nurses have been specially trained in offering confidential advice to teenagers and young people. Please contact the Practice Manager if you have any specific issues regarding confidentiality and sharing information.

FEEDBACK/COMPLAINTS - Your suggestions for improvements to our services will be appreciated.  Please contact our Practice Manager. We operate a practice complaints system - please ask the receptionist for details or telephone the Practice Manager.

PRACTICE ACTIVITIES - A comprehensive range of preventative services is available during surgery hours, including well woman, well man, over 75, diabetic and asthma checks together with dietary and smoking advice.

WELL WOMAN CHECKS AND CERVICAL SMEARS - are carried out by the practice nurses. A recall system may invite you to attend but we recommend that all women should have routine smears at three to five yearly intervals from 25 years of age until they have reached 65 years of age.

FAMILY PLANNING - We offer a full range of family planning care, including the fitting of caps and coils (IUCDs). Our nurses are trained to give advice and to carry out repeat contraception checks.

WELL PERSON CHECKS - are run by the practice nurses. They offer a 'health M.O.T.' which is particularly aimed to help reduce the risk of heart disease. The check is recommended for anyone over the age of 35. Appointments are made in the usual way; please bring a urine specimen. The Practice Nurse will assess various aspects of your current state of health. She can then give advice on the best way for you to reduce your risks of developing disease, and may offer help to lose weight or stop smoking.

CHILD HEALTH CLINIC - This is run by the Health Visitor at Petersfield Hospital Wednesdays between 10am - 12 pm. If you need to contact the Health Visitor the telephone number is 01730 261051. Childhood immunisation takes place at The Grange Surgery the second and fourth Thursdays each month. A card will invite you to attend on a particular date but if for any reason this is not convenient you can attend another clinic without an appointment.

TEENAGE HEALTH ZONE  - This is a confidential drop-in clinic for 12 - 19 year olds and is open every Wednesday 3 - 4.30 pm.

MATERNITY CARE - We share maternity care with the Midwives who hold a clinic at Petersfield Hospital on Monday mornings.  Contact telephone number 262415

PRACTICE NURSE AND HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT- Have their own surgeries each day; please ring for an appointment. In addition to chronic disease management, well-person checks and travel advice they are happy to deal with ear syringing, blood tests, ECGs, minor injuries, dressings, etc.

The nurse may also be consulted if an urgent minor illness appointment is necessary, when she will be working with reference to the doctor.
